‘POLAR EYES’ is the first exhibition in the brand new, Kranzberg Arts Incubator. Running from September 13th – November 2nd, we hope you can attend the opening reception on Saturday, September 13th from 7-11pm. This is a free event & open to all ages.

About ‘POLAR EYES’
‘POLAR EYES’ is a site-specific installation consisting of new works in sculpture, sound, digital video projection mapping and LED light manipulation by Saint Louis based audio/visual artist Mark Jankowski aka DJ Raven Fox. The exhibition is his first solo exhibition at The Kranzberg Arts Incubator in Saint Louis’ Grand Center Arts District. The works are intended to be viewed as both individual art works, as well as a gallery installation presenting 2 optically challenging illuminated works at a ‘larger than life’ scale viewable after dark through the gallery windows.

“TERMINAL THREE” is derived from the well known illusion – the Penrose Triangle, and is presented as a floating three dimensional sculpture (8ft x 8ft x 8ft). The rules of perspective & perception come into play where the sculpture and the viewer must come into precise alignment, at which point the infinity illusion takes hold.

“STACK OVER FLOW”, an 8ft x 11ft geometric sculpture piece placed to appear as 8 symmetric towering surfaces for the video imagery which comes into life from its 16 angles.

“SONIC AURA” A series of original sound compositions designed to simulate aural depth perception (surround sound) in collaboration and organic sync with the visual elements of the sculptures.

The work is best understood perceptually and falls within the framework of contemporary video projection art & sacred geometry science. Mark encourages the viewer to enter into a “subconscious” mode of awareness to effect the deliberate use of polychromatic color palettes and geometric patterns. Since the light and geometric surfaces are precisely aligned, thus creating a three dimensional relationship, it allows for the perception of an endless visual experience.

Artist Profile – Mark Jankowski (aka DJ Raven Fox)
Mark Jankowski is a audio/visual artist and producer whose unique hybrid works combine the physical and the virtual worlds with the use of sculpture, LED light, sound and video projection mapping technology.

Always wearing several creative hats as a graphic/visual artist, music producer, and music DJ/VJ – Mark’s uniquely identifiable aesthetic, style, and approach places his work at the front of a new mode of visual art & design practice.

Mark was born and raised in New York where he attended the School of Visual Arts in NYC & Princeton University in NJ. He now lives and works in Saint Louis, MO.

September 2014 – Video Projection design and production for The Shakespeare Festival of St Louis’ outdoor production of “There’s Good in Everything’ in Clayton, MO.

May 2014 – Architectural Video Projection design & production on the outside front of the Cinderella Building during the Cinco De Mayo Festival in Saint Louis, MO.

April 2014 – Video Projection design & production on the exterior of the World’s Fair Pavilion at Forest Park for Shakespeare Festival St. Louis’ annual Tempest Ball Gala.

November 2013 – Large-scale multimedia video projection environment for non-profit group Grace Hills’ annual gala IMAGES OF GRACE at The Palladium in Saint Louis, MO.

October 2013 – Site-specific 360 degree Video Projection Mapping the hyperboloid shaped architecture at the Saint Louis Science Center’s James McDonnell Planetarium.

June 2013 – Created large scale LED & video projection mapped sculptures/performance art commissioned by the Webster Groves Community Arts Foundation for their 2013 10th Annual Art & Air Fair in Webster Groves, MO.

February 2013 – Love Stories, a Valentines day event specific video projection mapped installation exhibit at the Museum of Laumeier Sculpture Park, Saint Louis, MO.

September 2012 – Video Projection Mapping Art Installation for the grand opening of the Gallery 618 in Clayton, MO.

October 2011 – Video Projection Mapping design & production onto a Public Art Sculpture at Saint Louis University at Choteau & Grand.
